The funding necessary to carry out Camp Okoboji's mission, "We provide Sanctuary which connects guests to God and His Creation", comes from a combination of sources which include income from Program Fees, Camp Services, Lodging Fees, and – equally important -  through your gifts. Generally, 40% of total operating revenue comes to Camp Okoboji through the generous gifts of our donors.  These donations help support and maintain the ministry at Camp Okoboji. As with other ministries, financial support is needed throughout the year. 

We are pleased to offer you opportunities to join us in our ministry by including Camp Okoboji in your personal stewardship program. The largest fundraising appeal is through the Annual Fund Letter which is mailed each February with follow-up reminders in May, August, and a general stewardship letter in November.  Most "general use" gifts go to the Annual Fund and are used to pay the day-to-day operating expenses or to prepare for the future.  Non-monetary "gifts-in-kind" also provide valuable support.  Please check our current "Wants and Needs" list or check with the Camp office. Donations may also be directed to Designated Gifts or Special Projects and will be restricted for this purpose according to guidelines set by the Camp Board of Directors.  Donors may also choose to participate through Planned and Deferred Gifts in the form of bequests, cash, securities, or property.  To facilitate these latter gifts, Camp Okoboji works closely with Mr. Jim Schroeder, Gift Planning Counselor with the LCMS Foundation.  Please contact us if you have any questions or if we can help you with your stewardship planning.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has established the Thrivent ChoiceSM Program. This program allows eligible members to direct Thrivent Financial funds to organizations as listed in a "catalog" of enrolled recipients. This can be your opportunity to benefit your own congregation as well as the Lutheran not-for-profit organizations such as Camp Okoboji that may have previously been recipients of Thrivent Financial gift matching programs. No personal donation is required to direct Thrivent Financial funds reserved in your name. Whichever opportunity in which you choose to participate, Camp Okoboji is ready to help you develop a personal or family gift plan for a "Lifetime of Giving" so that you may be assured that your Christian Stewardship is making a difference in "SERVING CHRIST IN OUTDOOR MINISTRY".


Builders Club

Camp Okoboji has a distinguished historical commitment to building Christ-centered relationships. Our service is in helping people build their faith life and in helping congregations to build their ministries. It is fitting that the group providing leadership support of this mission and ministry is named "Builders Club."

The Builders Club is made up of caring people who are concerned that God's children of all ages will continue to have opportunities and facilities to worship their Creator in an outdoor ministry setting. Members may include individuals, families, auxiliaries, and congregations. Membership in this vital giving organization continues to be an important witness and symbol of personal involvement. Members typically contribute a minimum of $100.00 or more annually which is earmarked for capital improvement or major repair projects. Special recognition is available upon request.
